First day on the job

Last night I went to bed around 11:30... well not actually to bed, but went and laid in bed and ended up reading a few chapters on my romance novel. I read for about a hour or so, and decided it was time to actually "go to bed". After wresting with myself to try to get cozy and comfy for about 10 minutes; I finally ended up falling asleep. Remind you, it is now 12:50am and I have to get up at 7am to get ready for work.

After finally getting to sleep, I then wake up at 1:45am....wide awake. Really??? I know I am no where near awake enough to stay up any later, shit my eyes were closing on me a little bit while I was reading my book; haha. So I grabbed Jazzy (our pug) and re-arranged her up next to me and cuddled with her. It took me about another half hour to fall back asleep!!! I just don't understand it, I was tired at around 10, went to bed at 12:50 and then wake up out of nowhere acting like I'm not tired. Maybe it was the first-day-on-the-job-jitters? Or maybe I really wasn't all that tired as I thought. Eh, no one will ever know!

I woke up at around 7:10am, and boy was I TIRED! (Who would've thought, right!? lol) I stumbled out of bed and made my way upstairs. I met my dad in the kitchen and he was just about to leave to go to work himself. My dad is so cute! He left me a note hanging on the wall saying:

"Have a good first day at your job. Remember to smile and act yourself, you will do fine. Love you, Dad"

^ How freaking adorable is that!? I love him so much!!

We chatted for a few before he left to go to work and I got in the shower. I got out of the shower, and hear a knock on the bathroom door...Chris was home for work!! I finished getting dressed, and was super happy to see him before I went to work. He ended staying up with me while I dried my hair and we both went downstairs. I had to change into work clothes, and he was changing into pj's. It was so sad, I just wanted to get back in bed with both of them, but I couldn't. I tucked my hubby and Jazzy into the blankets and gave them both a kiss. It wasn't time for me to leave just yet, but Chris was tired and I felt bad for keeping him up as long as I had already.

I went back upstairs and made myself some breakfast; toast with cinnamon sugar lol. I ate my breakfast and watched some TV, and by the time I was finished I had enough time to have a smoke, brush my teeth and get some things ready for work.

I left for work around 8:40am, as it only takes me not even 5 minutes to get to work haha. I clocked in at 8:53 (see I told you it didn't take me long to get there, oh and plus I had one last smoke before going in too).

I went in and Sabrina was the only one there so far, so she showed me some ropes and how she does things. I really wasn't showed too much, as we were going on a Field trip in like 7 minutes, haha. About 3 minutes later, Gina rolled in. Gina and I were put together for the day. Since we had a total of 31 kids (the most kids that they had at once so early in the morning), Gina and I took 18 of them as the first group to the Zoo. The reason why we had to divide them up into two groups was because we didn't have a big enough bus to take them all in. Yes, we did take a short bus...hahaha.

Any ways, it usually only takes about half hour to get to the zoo, well we went the detour and was stuck in so much traffic it was ridiculous. What ended up being a half hour drive took almost an hour and a half to get there.

We finally arrived and got everyone off the bus, checked in, and paid for. We made our way down the steps and made a "potty" stop before we headed out. After everyone was done, we divide our group of 16 into two groups, 8 in each, so we could keep a better head count of the kids. I had my group, and Misty led her group and we followed her. The kids, to my surprise weren't too bad...yet. We made it to the birds, where you actually get to go and hold the birds, where all it went downhill. The kids were touching everything in the little store we had to go through before the birds, they weren't listening to anyone nor the instructions they were given (which were, do not tough/chase/or step on the birds; cuz they were walking around on the ground.) Wouldn't you know it....every little one of them were chasing, not watching where they were walking and trying to pick them up. You aren't supposed to pick them up because they will bite, so we had to get them out of there ASAP or we would've gotten kicked out haha.

Finally we got every ones hand washed, and was out the door. Gina then had the kids go run/play the extra energy they had on the playground. Halleluiah!!! It was starting to get hot out and it was a nice break from the heat to actually sit down in shade!!!! Gina and I talked for about 25 minutes or so, which was nice. I got to know her better and vise versa.  Misty (my boss) was leaving Follansbee at the time to come to where we were, which would take about 40 minutes. So we gathered up our groups and took them to the next part, which was the otters and some kind of bear. It had two sections, so we both went to both of the sections and then swapped kids to let them see what they hadn't seen yet.

Misty was on her way with the kids, so we had about 20 minutes until she arrived. We stayed where we were at for a while, and then finally gathered the kids up and started walking back to the front of the zoo. Misty had already dropped the kids off, that she was bringing, up at the picnic tables so we could all eat lunch. We took the kids and had them sit on the steps to wait for Misty. After 5 minutes, Misty pulled up and we loaded the kids onto the bus and went to the picnic tables. We let the kids out first to go get their seats, and Sabrina, Gina, and I got all of the kids' lunch out of the bus. We passed out everyone's lunch, and surprisingly we had no melt downs, while they were waiting. The only problem was, is that one child forgot to bring a lunch. Misty and Sabrina went down to the zoo and they got their lunch, as well as mine and the one child that forgot his.

After all the mess of figuring out who was who, well for me anyways while passing out lunches, the kids started to get ornery....and I mean really ornery. Not listening to us to stay seated, jumping, standing on tables, squealing at a poisonous caterpillar; you name it, it happened.

After we ate our lunch, we brought all the kids back to the zoo, and we traded groups. So instead of going with my group, I had to stay with the second group...and walk the zoo again lol. We ended up taking the kids on the train, and we just made it. We had to split up the kids, so they were scattered all over the train starting from the beginning to the end of the train. It was a success because none of the kids fell off, haha...jk! In all honesty it was a success, just because everyone stayed seated, with their hands and feet in the entire ride. Oh and the train ride sucked. We saw only 3 animals the entire ride, and we saw them twice because we had to go back through the way we came. I was disappointed, because when I was a kid there was so much more to look at. Ahh, anyways. It was getting hotter out and we were about halfway through the zoo, when it seemed as if everyone was about to have a melt down. A little girl tripped and fell over some other little girls shoe and scraped her elbow. OMG. This little girl screamed/cried/balled/wined for a good half hour. Sabrina told me to get use to her because she is a big drama queen, and she will just ball and make a scene all day if she could. No doubt her elbow hurt, but not to the extent of how long she cried for. So that was annoying, big time.

The bus ride home was fairly good, the kids were being alright, for once, and we finally got some down time and silent-ness lol. We got back to LBDC at around 3:44 and by this time it was snack time, and then the kids could play for the rest of the evening.

Second day wasn't too bad, and I still enjoy it!

Happy Blogging =]
